Our beloved national carrier (Malaysia Airlines System, MAS) unveiled its restructure plan in order to bring back the national carrier back to profit. MAS reported a loss of RM1.2billion for the financial year ended 31 December 2005. Among the many strategies announced by Idris Jala, the route network rationalization took my attention. The routes that will get an immediate cut are the one from the secondary hubs such as KCH, LGK,PEN and BKI. So expect less wide body planes to KCH now, sigh...
Now politician ( Penang's CM ) expressed his dissapointment to MAS since the non-stop flight from LHR-PEN will be cut immediately. I'm expecting Abg Johari of Sarawak will join the list of the whining politicians sometime this week.
All the best for MAS!!
Another hot issue yesterday was the petrol hike, which is by 19%. As expected, we know how us Malaysian will react. Most of consumers caught by suprised with this decision by goverment. Katanya nak save RM4.4B and the money will be use to improve the public transport. Katanya la... We'll see...
As for me, like other Malaysians out there, will definetly feel the pinch of the petrol price hike.
So, the outcome:
MAS rugi = Increase fares for domestic sector = I have to take Air Asia
Petrol hike = Yikes!!need to pay 30sen more per litre = Car pool and take the bus for weekend trip back to KL
