The One with the last Grand Slam

Boys and Girls, mark your calendar cause next week its time for 2 weeks of powerfull display from top ranked players. Yeah, its time for another Grand Slam, the US Open.

For the US Open series tournament leading to the final Grand Slam, we've seen different players winning each tournament. Suprisingly, Federer only won one tournament for the US Open Series, Ana Ivanovic leading the ranking points for the US Open Series and defending champion, Kim Clijsters is out citing left wrist injury. With all these dramas, I cant wait for the US Open to start. So, as always, here's my preview on the year final Grand Slam.

MEN

Winner: Roger Federer, no doubt about it.Why? Cause this is a Grand Slam. Every tennis fan how much he wants this title. If he lift up the title there, he would become the only third player to win 3 consecutive titles.

My second favourite to lift up the title is off course, Rafael Nadal and would love to see another Federer vs Nadal final. Nadal has gotten the better of Roger Federer on a regular basis. He has not made it past the third round in the US Open, where last year James Blake knocked him off. To become a champion at Flushing Meadows next two weeks, Nadal have to play much more convincing hardcourt tennis than he has so far this year. All the best!

Other pretenders that could derail both top seeds are Lleyton Hewitt, the resurgence former number 1's. Juan Carlos Ferreron, Andy Roddick and maybe Ivan Ljubicic and James Blake. Hope all the top seeds will live up to their billings.

WOMEN

Defending champions, Kim Clijsters is out with injury, 5 times Grand Slam winner, Venus William just pulled out citing wrist injury and her sister, Serena, is off form. What does this mean? No clear favourite for the winner this time.

Last year, everyone expect Kim Clijsters to win her maiden Grand Slam, and she delivered. Top seed this year is Amelie Mauresmo, winner of two Grand Slam this year. Second seed is the current French Open and to complete the top four is Maria Sharapova and Elena Dementieva. Comeback Queen, Martina Hingis, once a winner here back in 1997, is seed number 8.

Winner: Maria Sharapova. i might be biased here, but hey, she did performed and playing exceptionally well in the US Open Series with a Tier 1 title at Acura Classic and a semifinal appearance at the next series. The draw is kind for her, like always and the IT girl of tennis has an attractive path to the semifinal where Mauresmo will be her opponent, that if Mauresmo able to beat the on-slaught of players such as the in-form Ana Ivanovic, Serena Williams or even Martina Hingis. I'm hoping that she will choke once she sees Serena on court.haha..

The other favourites to lift the title are Justine Henin Hardenne, Elena Dementieva Lindsay Davenport and Serena William (maybe..)
