My wimbledon 2006 final review
ROGER FEDERER vs RAFAEL NADAL.
Who would have thought that it would be Federer vs Nadal in the years Wimbledon 2006 final. Most of the tennis fans were expecting someone like Roddick/Nalbandian or Hewitt to derail Federer at this year SW19 and not the Mallorcan hunk. Rafael Nadal, fresh from winning his second French Open last month, is now in his third Grand Slam final in his career. Given the fact that this is only his fifth Grass court tournament ever, reaching the final is an accomplishment already.
A natural clay courter, many questioned the Mallorcan hunk seeding given by the committee. Some even question his ability to make the adjustment from the slow clay court to the fast slick grass surface. He simply defied all the odds and critics by tennis specialist by reaching the final. He cemented his status as the King of Clay already, and now, here he is, gate crashing Federer 'home'. Nadal is transforming into an into an all rounder player now, sooner than we all thought.
This will be the best match tennis fan will witness this year, and trust me, Nadal will give Federer a hard time in the centre court. Nadal will chase every single point as if his life hanging on it. Nadal for sure will deploy his tricky serves, bounces and heavy topspin against Federer tomorrow. Definitly a cracker!
AMELIE MAURESMO vs JUSTINE HENIN-HARDENNE
The #1 seed vs #3 seed. This is Australian Open final repeat. On paper, Mauresmo ( the French bitch ) is number 1 in the world, but every tennis fans agree that Justine Henin is the real number 1. This is her third straight Grand Slam final this year. Like Nadal, she's also fresh from winning the French Open. If she wins the final tonight, she will join among the tennis elite such as Steffi Graff, Navratilova and many more as the player who owns a career Slam.
For Amelie Mauresmo, if she win the title, it will justify her number 1 ranking. She did won her first Grand Slam this year at down under, but with few help from the players. In the 3rd round, Michaella Krajicek surrender because of the heat exhaustion, in the semi, Kim Clijsters retired because of injury and in the final, Justine retired from stomach bug. To me, tonight final will be an unfinished business between the two players.
Justine Henin will be the overwhelming favourite to win for sure, she is just mentally tough and love the way how she crawls her way back into the game everytime she's in trouble. She has this majestic shot making, especially the single-handed backhand, regarded as the best single back hand ever. As for Mauresmo aka the French Bitch, I do hope she will choke tonight. Justine will win in 2 tight sets. :)
