The One with the Spice Girls Tour

In my fantasy world, it would be Spice Girls on a gruelling 15 days non-stop tour around Northern Region of Malaysia. In reality, its only me and my colleagues on a 15 days outstation trip at Langkawi and Penang, banyak la sgt tour Spice Girls tuh..heheeh. Actually, I was inlvolved for the implementation of Airport Pavement Management system (Malaysia) at both airports. This system is the first of its kind in Malaysia and the first phase will cover the 5 international airports managed by Malaysia Airport Berhad, which are KUL,BKI,LGK,PEN and KCH.

The company i work with is the main contractor for our client to conduct two tests, which is Heavy Weight Deflectometer Test (HWD) and DCP/coring Test. I was incharged for the latter one. To some,working at airport might sounds cool, maybe can rub shoulders with the aweks berskirt merah( Air Asia hot stewardess)..gadis berkebaya biru ( MAS stewardess) and all the men in uniforms( hm..shud i explain?..haha).Actually, i got to see none of them, unless there's any discussion with Engineering people in the terminal la..hahah.. Our operation for all the testing was conducted at night time when there's n more flights in and out of the airport.Meaning i got to do the graveyard shifts. The time frame for LGK was from 2145-0600 and at PEN from 0100-0500. Weather plays a crucial part for our testing, coz any sort of rain will put our testing to a halt.

It was the first time i get to involved in any kinds of late night activites at site (graveyard shift), so for the first few nights i was very sleepy. I was praying for rain so that we can postpone the testing. God answered my prayers when the testing at PEN were delayed for few days and i had to stay there for 12 days. The goodside of it, i can go sight-seeing..hehehe...The last time i went to Penang was 20 years ago so i was a bit like jakun 2 when i reache there. heheh. I went on top of Gunung Jerai, pusing2 pulau, went to Pantai Merdeka and went all the way on top of the Bukit Bendera. Bercuti sakan..hahaha...

This whole 2 weeks outstation is really a test for me, mentally and pysically la. Why, I have to stay up when everyone else is sleeping in their comfy bed. It also test how good my PR skills are. I had to deal with lots of people, the fussy MAB staff ( untuk staff PEN je, LGK baik-baik belaka), the grumpy polis2 MAB yg shift malam ( PEN gak), our client and the most important person, the big gun from MAB KLIA. I believed my PR skills with the big gun from MAB was at it best! hehe, but still need to brush here and there. :P

Next stop, KCH and SBW next week. Yeay!!!

p/s: why spice girls tour and not other rock band? im a big fan of spice girls back then..hehehe..below the photo of the scantily clad spice girls..Victoria look so good back then huh..hhhhhm....
