The One with the Year Review

This blog of mine is a place for me to syok sendiri already..heheh..i dun care if no one is reading my blog..as long as im happy..i'll keep on posting post for my blog..yeah.. watched this match between Federer and I.Ljubicic just now...its just a delayed coverage..Federer was taken to 3 sets..and boy..the last set was a thriller..he held 4 match points at 5-3...and Ljubicic still has the nerved to saved all four match points..the best part was when Federer was down a break at 0-40 ( 5-4)..and he came to the net and he did this very awesome volley..and i was like Wow...!!!!..but then..he lost his serve and it went to tie break..again..what i meant by again is that most if their matches this year end up with a final set tie breaks.. So..today im going to do a review on ATP and WTA tour..bare with me..it will take me a while to complete this review since im doing my reports on FT091 and FT092 in Johor..heheh.. ATP TENNIS.. No one came close to Federer's domination this year except for one young Spanish Guy..by the name of Rafael Nadal..with 10 tiltes this year..he is clearly the player of the year for me..albeit with Federer who have won 11 titles (maybe 12 with Masters Cup), I have to salute Nadal for what he achieved this year..merely a top 50 player last year..he saw and conquered the ATP Tour this year..alongside with Federer..he swept the titles for the clay season..winning two Masters Series in Rome and Monte Carlo..and The Grand Slam at Roland Garros..hardcourt season..he won two more Masters Series later at Cincinati and Paris.. Marat Safin also had a decent year this year..he won the first Grand Slam of the year..taking his major tally to two..after The US Open in 2000..his match in semifinal with Federer is regarded as one of the best match ever played..its just a pure classic... hm..about my favourite player..Hewitt..what can i say..but he maintains his consistency this year..cause he kept on falling to Federer in semifinal..this year Flushing Meadow is just another proved...Federer just toys with Hewitt in a straight set..two of those sets went with a bagle...huhu... Ok..here's my list.. Player of the Year: Rafael Nadal Comeback Player of the Year: James Blake Player to watch: Robbie Ginepri.. WTA TOUR My favourite part...im not sure how to sum up this year for WTA Tour..but yeah..this year was pure ecstasy..why? four different players won the Majors and the rise of Maria Sharapova to the top ranking.. Lets start with Willams sisters first..dogged by injuries last year..there was doubt whether the sisters can compete at the highest level of tennis this year..Serena proved everyone wrong by capturing Australian Open..the semifinal match against Sharapova is the best match of the year for me..8-6 in the last sets...thats was a hell of a thriller..watch the whole match..and much to my dissapointment..Maria just couldnt kept her composure.. Another Willam also silenced the critics..Venus won the Wimbledon for the 3rd time of her carrier..taking her major tally to five..shes two short of Serena..the final match aginst Davenport is the longest match in Wimbledon's history..with both players held match points.. Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin Hardene pulled out an impressive comeback this year..clearly this year belongs to these Belgans..13 titles all together this year including two majors.. Kim won the biggest check in women's sport history (USD 2.2million) ever by claming the US Open. and US Open Series..she went on a roll at this year US hardcourt season with Indian Wells, Miami, US Open.. Toronto and few more i cant recall..huhu..clearly my player of the year goes to KIM CLIJSTERS...too bad..she cant claim the season ending number 1 and YEC..huhu Justine also made a clean sweep of the clay season..winning the Roland Garros and all the top tier event leading to it..alltogether..4 titles.. and there's these resurgence of senior players..Davenport and Pierce..two major finals each..at the age closing to 30 where other players might thinking of retiring..both of them went on a roll especially after US open season..where both of them won 4 titles together..ending this season on a high note..both players going to next season with Majors success in mind.. now..my favourite part..its on my favourite player..Maria Sharapova..before u judge me..NO...i was a big fan of hers way before her success at Wimbledon last year..it was in 2003..when she reached 1/8 round of Wimbledon when i noticed her...i still kept the paper cutting of hers blewing kisses to the crowd when she reach 1/8 round... this year..she is one of the few teenagers who featured in the YEC...she is a prime example of consistency this year..reaching 3 semi of the four majors..falling to eventual champions in all 4 Majors..her double bagle against Davenport was the talk of the town..still remembered after the match ..she said: "its just one of those days when everything is not right" she got the revenge against Davenport in YEC this year..beating her in three sets..Maria also rise to the top of the ranking this year..not to mention..of those endorments..kaching!!!!!
